Concrete block masonry, also known as a concrete masonry unit (CMU), is one of the most versatile products in the construction industry. CMU walls used in a single wythe application can serve in both a structural capacity, can be the finished face of a wall, or can serve as a strong backup system for many types of veneer systems.
CMU comes in nominal sizing in widths of 4”, 6”, 8” 10” and 12”, and are generally 16” in length. Actual dimensions are 3/8” less than the nominal sizing to account for the mortar joints that will be applied at installation. Specialized shapes are offered to assist with installation of rebar, door jambs, conduit and more.
