The masonry contractor, Quality General Inc., constructed the 23,000 square feet electronic switching station using three different colors and two types of block. Both split face and smooth face blocks were used with color banding to highlight the fence walls and building structure. The soldier course or vertical stacking of the 8"x10"x16" colored blocks provided architectural finishes unique to this project. These soldier course were opened ended to facilitate grouting of the masonry walls.
